Important: Verify that the seatback mechanism is in the locked position before starting this procedure. Pulling forward on the upper seatback will lock the seatback mechanism. The seatback will not fold forward when the mechanism is not properly locked.

  1. Adjust the seatback into the fully reclined position by applying force rearward on the seat recliner assembly lever. Verify the ease of the lever operation and the seatback movement.
  2. Release the recliner lever. The seatback should remain fully reclined.
  3. Operate the recliner lever and position the seatback forward to an intermediate reclined position.
  4. Release the recliner lever.
  5. Test for positive recliner locking action by applying manual force to the upper seatback in the rearward direction.
  6. Using the recliner mechanism lever, adjust the seat back to a normal position. Verify the ease of the lever operation and the full return of the seatback.
  7. Release the recliner lever.
  8. Apply manual force to the upper seatback in the rearward direction in order to check for positive recliner locking action. The recliner release lever should return to a normal position without any assistance from the operator.
