SERVICE MANUAL REVISION

Subject: CHART A-3, "ENGINE CRANKS BUT WON'T RUN" CHART C-4, "MISFIRE DIAGNOSIS"

Models Affected: 1985-87 GRAND AM EQUIPPED WITH 3.OL (VIN CODE L) 1987-88 BONNEVILLE EQUIPPED WITH 3.8L (VIN CODE 3)

"This bulletin supersedes bulletin 87-6 (Gasaoline)-75. This bulletin has been revised to add model years 1985 and 1988 and replace Chart A-3 (Page 2 of 3) for 3.8L engines (VIN Code 3).

These revisions are presented to clarify the diagnostic procedure for the C"3"I ignition system. These charts supersede the A-3 charts and C-4 charts in the 1985-88 service manuals for the engines listed above.

This revision is presented to clarify Chart C-4 for 1987-88 Bonneville models equipped with 3.8L (VIN 3) engines. Step 4 has been revised to include Type II ignition system check.
