INSTRUMENT PANEL LAMP DIMMER ASSEMBLY-CALAIS

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985 Oldsmobile Calais

The following procedure should be used when removing or installing the instrument panel lamp dimmer assembly on the 1985 Calais:

1. Remove the L.H. sound insulator. See 'L.H. Sound Insulator' procedure on page 8C2-3 of the 1985 Firenza, Calais, Cutlass Ciera and Ninety-Eight Chassis Service Manual, Volume II.

2. Remove the lower steering column trim cover.

3. Remove the screws attaching the dimmer assembly to the lower tie bar. See Fig. 1.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector to the dimmer assembly.

5. Remove dimmer assembly.

Reverse the procedure to install the dimmer assembly.
