SUNROOF WATER LEAKS BENT GLASS PANEL HINGE

1985 GRAND AM

Please discard previous bulletin 85-2-18 and replace it with this one."

Sunroof water leaks on 1985 Grand Am models may be the result of an inadequate seal between the sunroof glass panel and roof weatherstrip. With the sunroof closed and latched, the entire outer vertical edge of the glass panel should seal to the upper outer lip of the weatherstrip as shown in Illustration A.

A poor seal condition may be caused by a bent glass panel hinge. See Illustration B.

An additional check should also be made to ensure that the weatherstrip is properly positioned and sealed in the channel.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
