Subject: | TCS Off Light and Multiple DTCs |
Models: | 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO |
This PI was superseded to update model years. Please discard PIC3338A.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Traction off lamp coming on and/or fuel gauge error lamp on. This concern may be accompanied by some or a combination of the following DTCs: C0064, C0073, C0062, B0024, B0026, B0002, U0011, and/or U0012. This concern will occur when using the RKE to unlock the vehicle or if the dome lamp is set to turn on when opening the door.
If there is a short between circuits 32 and 39 when the dome lamp illuminates, the IPC will be powered up. When the dome lamp goes off, the IPC will go off as well. This will result in multiple DTCs due to the IPC being powered up and other modules not being powered up.
Remove the cigar lighter fuse and evaluate. If the concern no longer occurs, inspect circuits 32 and 39 under the center console for being shorted.
These vehicles do not have cigar lighters, but they have the wire harness that includes connectors to have the cigar lighters installed as a dealer installed option.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
