Information on Service Replacement of Heater Hoses Due to Contact/Rubbing with Rear of RH Cylinder Head

Subject:Information On Service Replacement of Heater Hoses Due to Contact/Rubbing with Rear of RH Cylinder Head

Models:2004-2006 Pontiac GTO

There have been some isolated cases where the heater hose has been damaged due to contact with the rear of the RH cylinder head.

On any vehicle where the heater hose is being replaced, the following steps should be performed:

    Object Number: 1872427 Size: SH
  1. For Manual Transmission Only: Vehicles built prior to 08/01/2005, route the new hose between the clutch pipe and the dash panel as shown above.
  2. For Manual Transmission Only: Vehicles built after 08/01/2005, route the new hose in front of the clutch pipe. Vehicles built after this date were fitted with a revised clutch pipe to provide a greater clearance between the heater hoses and the cylinder head.

    Object Number: 1872428 Size: SH
  3. For Manual and Automatic Transmissions: If not already fitted, apply a butyl patch, P/N 92018621, to the rear of the cylinder head as shown above. Ensure that the cylinder head surface is thoroughly clean before applying the patch. Butyl patches were added to the rear of the cylinder head on V8 engine models after 04/12/2006 to protect the heater hoses from sharp edges.
