Subject: | Service VME - Install Fuses at Dealer Delivery/Prep |
Models: | 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Effective Jan 29, 2004, two fuses were removed from the GTO to reduce battery drain as the vehicles are shipped. The fuses are located in the fuse panel beneath the driver's side knee bolster/closeout panel. The bolster pulls down to gain access. The 10 AMP fuse (labeled Instruments) in cavity 21 for instruments / theft / horn and the 15 AMP fuse (labeled Radio & Cell) in cavity 23 for the radio are removed and placed into a small plastic zip bag. The small bag is placed into the plastic bag that contains the owners manual and vehicle information in the glove box. The vehicles that are currently at the rail yards or in shipment will have been shipped prior to the fuse being pulled. Dealerships can determine if the fuses are pulled by observing the cluster when the vehicle is started. If the fuses are pulled the cluster and the radio will be inoperative.
Note: Cavity 22 is empty; it is open for a spare fuse.
Replacing the fuses does not add sufficient time to change the Pre-delivery allowance.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
