Subject:Power Seat Inoperative

Models:2005 Pontiac GTO

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Front seat will not move when switch button is operated or when easy entry is operated. This has been identified on pre-delivery vehicles.

Recommendation/Instructions:

CAUSE

Seat module may set a software travel stop position that is not valid. This can occur due to the vehicle or seat having a low voltage condition while the seat is being moved. This can occur due to low battery voltage or high current draw from other vehicle systems. System voltage must drop below 10.7V while the seat is moving for this to occur. Pre delivery vehicles are showing this issue due to poor battery charge condition.

CORRECTION

Disconnect the power to seat by removing the power relay from the fuse box. Allow 30 seconds to drain the system. Reconnect power, Module will reset and erase any software travel limits. Seat should operate correctly. Unless vehicle battery is charged to correct operating condition this fault could repeat itself. Ensure vehicle battery charge is within correct limits.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
