Removal Procedure
- Open the door.
- Raise the vehicle to gain access to the lower rocker panel retaining
clips.
Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing
an emblem/name plate.
- Apply making tape to protect the painted surfaces.
- Remove the 2 rocker panel screws (1)
from the rear of the rocker panel molding (3).
- Using a flat-bladed tool, disengage the clip (2).
- Remove the 2 screws (1) attaching
the front of the rocker panel molding (2) to the fender liner.
Important: The retaining clips maybe damaged when removing from the underbody.
- Lift up the rocker panel weather-strip (3)
to gain access and remove the 5 retainers (4) attaching the rocker panel molding (1).
- Remove the 7 screws (2), from the retainers (7) under
the rocker panel molding (1).
- Carefully remove the rocker panel molding (1) from the vehicle,
unclipping the 3 retainers (6).
- Remove the 2 retaining nuts (5) from the fender, if necessary.
- Remove the 7 rocker panel retainers (1)
from the body, if necessary.
Installation Procedure
Important: Replace all damaged retaining clips before reinstalling the rocker panel.
- Position the 7 rocker panel retainers (1) to the locator holes
in the rocker panel, if removed.
Apply heavy hand pressure to secure fasteners in the rocker panel.
- Install the 2 retaining
nuts (5) to the fender, if removed.
- Position the rocker panel molding (1) to the 3 retainers (6).
- Install the rocker panel molding (1) to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the 7 screws (2) to the retainers (7) under the
rocker panel molding (1).
Tighten
Tighten the 7 screws (2) to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Under the rocker panel molding weather-strip (3), install the 5 retainers (4)
to the rocker panel molding (1).
- Install the 2 screws (1) attaching
the front of the rocker panel molding (2) to the fender liner.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 screws (1) to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Engage the rear of the rocker panel molding (3)
to the clip (2).
- Install the 2 screws (1) to the rear of the rocker panel
molding (3).
Tighten
Tighten the 2 screws (1) to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Remove the masking tape.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Inspect the door to rocker for alignment.
- Close the door.
