Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2005 🢒 GTO 🢒 Transmission/Transaxle 🢒 Manual Transmission - Tremec 6-Speed 🢒 Reverse Lockout Solenoid Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the propeller shaft from the vehicle. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  3. Remove the transmission crossmember support. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement .
  4. Suitably support the transmission.
  5. Lower the transmission slightly to gain access to the reverse lockout solenoid.

  6. Remove the reverse lockout solenoid electrical connector (2).
  7. Place a drain pan under the transmission in case any fluid drips out.
  8. Remove the reverse lockout solenoid retaining bolt.
  9. Remove the reverse lockout solenoid.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the reverse lockout solenoid.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the reverse lockout assembly bolt.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the reverse lockout assembly bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Remove the drain pan.

  4. Connect the reverse lockout solenoid electrical connector (2).
  5. Install the transmission crossmember support. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement .
  6. Install the propeller shaft from the vehicle. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  7. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level Inspection .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
