DEFINITION: This test is used by the technician to aid in the diagnosis of the forward/rearward function of the seat being inoperative. The test diagnoses the seat adjustment switch and the motor circuits.

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

1. Remove the seat adjustment switch from the seat. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .
2. Test the seat adjustment switch, refer to Diagnostic Aids above.

Does the seat switch test good?

Go to Step 4

1. Using a test lamp, back probe the positive FORWARD side of the seat horizontal actuator assembly motor connector.
2. Operate the seat adjustment switch so that it will move the seat forward.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

1. Using a test lamp, back probe the positive FORWARD seat module output to the seat horizontal actuator assembly motor .
2. Operate the seat adjustment switch so that it will move the seat forward.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

1. Using a test lamp, back probe the horizontal FORWARD seat switch input at the seat module.
2. Operate the seat adjustment switch so that it will move the seat forward.

1. Using a test lamp, back probe the positive REARWARD side of the seat horizontal actuator assembly motor connector.
2. Operate the seat adjustment switch so that it will move the seat rearward.

1. Using a test lamp, back probe the positive REARWARD seat module output to the seat horizontal actuator assembly motor .
2. Operate the seat adjustment switch so that it will move the seat rearward.

1. Using a test lamp, back probe the horizontal REARWARD seat switch input at the seat module.
2. Operate the seat adjustment switch so that it will move the seat rearward.

Repair a fault in the circuit between the positive REARWARD side of the seat horizontal actuator assembly motor and the seat module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a fault in the circuit between the FORWARD output of the seat switch and the FORWARD input of the seat module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a fault in the circuit between the REARWARD output of the seat switch and the REARWARD input of the seat module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
