Did you review the Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify the dome lamps are inoperative.

Does the system operate normally?

Test the interior illumination relay supply voltage circuit for battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

With a fused jumper wire, ground the interior illumination relay signal circuit at the body control module (BCM).

Did the dome lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 5

With a fused jumper wire, ground the interior illumination relay signal circuit at the relay.

Did the dome lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Repair open or high resistance in the interior illumination relay signal circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

  1. Remove the interior illumination relay.
  2. With a fused jumper wire, connect the relay supply voltage circuit and the dome lamp supply voltage circuit.

Did the dome lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

With the dome lamps ON, test for battery positive voltage at the dome lamp connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and complete the repair?

With the dome lamp ON, test for a ground signal at the dome lamp assembly. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the interior illumination relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
