Removal Procedure
Caution: Halogen bulbs contain gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly
could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal
injury:
• | Turn off the lamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing
the bulb. |
• | Leave the lamp switch OFF until the bulb change is complete. |
• | Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb. |
• | Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass. |
• | Keep dirt and moisture off the bulb. |
• | Properly dispose of the used bulb. |
• | Keep halogen bulbs out of the reach of children. |
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the lower grille. Refer to
Front Bumper Lower Fascia Grille Replacement
in Bumpers.
- Remove the screw (1) to release the clamp ring (4).
- Rotate the ring (4) clockwise until the retaining hook (3)
is at the 9 o'clock position.
- Ease the ring (4) out of the aperture and away from the fog lamp (2).
- Pull
the lens and reflector assembly (1) away from the fog lamp housing (5).
- Disconnect the bulb lead (4) from the wiring harness connector
located inside the insulation sheath (6).
- Squeeze the two halves of the spring retainer (2) together and
pivot the spring backward clear of the bulb (3)
- Remove the bulb (3) from the lens and reflector assembly (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install
the fog lamp bulb (3) into the correct locating notches in the reflector and
insert the spring retainer (2).
- Connect the bulb lead (4) to the wiring harness connector inside
the sheath (6).
- Install the lens and reflector assembly (1) into the housing (5),
ensuring that the tabs on the rim of the lens and reflector assembly (1) correspond
with the cut-outs in the rim of the housing (5).
- Position the clamp ring (4) to the fog lamp (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the screw (1) to the clamp ring (4).
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 1 N·m(9 lb in)
- Lower the vehicle.
- Aim fog lamps, if required. Refer to
Fog Lamp Aiming
.
- Install the lower grille. Refer to
Front Bumper Lower Fascia Grille Replacement
in Bumpers.
