Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment lid.
- Remove the screw (8) and the spare
wheel stowage cover hook (7).
- Remove the emergency rear compartment release handle (2) by pushing
the wire up to release the ferrule (3), lift the wire free and push the cable
back through the tunnel (4).
- Push the cable through the compartment lid trim (1).
- Remove the 17 push-in retainers (9) from the
trim panel (1) on the rear compartment lid.
- Remove the trim panel (1) from the rear compartment lid.
- Using a flat-bladed tool, remove the nut (6) and washer (5)
from the rear compartment lid, if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the washer (5) and nut (6)
to the rear compartment lid, if removed.
- Position the trim panel (1) to the rear compartment lid.
- Guide the emergency rear compartment release cable through the trim panel (1).
- Install the 17 push-in retainers (9) to the trim panel (1).
- Push the emergency rear compartment release cable through the tunnel (4)
and install the ferrule (3) to the release handle (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the spare wheel stowage hook (7) and screw (8).
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Close the rear compartment lid.
