The powertrain interface module (PIM) receives information from the powertrain control module (PCM) on the Class II serial data circuit. This information contains the current fuel level and the status of this information. If the current fuel level and the status is not contained in this information, DTC B0576 Fuel Level Indicator Range/Performance will be set.
• | The ignition is ON. |
• | The ignition voltage is between 5 and 17 volts. |
PIM has not received fuel level sender information.
The Check Powertrain malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will not be activated.
• | A Last Test Failed (current DTC) clears, after the ignition has been cycled and the PIM receives valid fuel level information. |
• | The PCM receives the clear code command from the scan tool. |
The following DTCs may also cause this DTC to set: This DTC will set if the PCM has been programmed with an incorrect calibration.
For an intermittent, refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
This test confirms that the Powertrain OBD System Check has been performed.
If DTCs U1000 or U1001 are set, these PIM DTCs should be diagnosed first.
This DTC will be set if the PCM does not provide fuel level information. This would only occur if the PCM was programmed with an incorrect calibration.
This test confirms if the DTC is current.
