Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the evaporator core from the vehicle. Refer to
Air Conditioning Evaporator Core Replacement
.
- Remove the evaporator tube retaining screw (2).
- Remove the evaporator tubes (4) from the evaporator core (3).
- Remove and discard the O-rings (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install new O-rings (1) to the evaporator
core tube fitting.
- Install the evaporator tubes (4) to the evaporator core (3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Secure the evaporator tubes with the retaining screw (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Install the evaporator core to the vehicle. Refer to
Air Conditioning Evaporator Core Replacement
.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
