Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose nut (2) from the condenser (4).
- Disconnect the A/C compressor hose fitting (3) from the condenser.
- Remove and discard the O-ring (5).
- Remove the A/C line from the retaining brackets (1).
- Remove TXV tube
plate bolt (5).

Installation Procedure
- Install new O-rings (4) onto the A/C compressor
hose block fitting (3). Refer to
O-Ring Replacement
.
- Install the A/C compressor hose block fitting to the A/C compressor (5).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the A/C compressor hose fitting nut (1) to the A/C compressor.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Install new O-rings (8)
to the TXV (10). Refer to
O-Ring Replacement
.
- Install the A/C compressor tube (4) and receiver dehydrator tube (6)
to the TXV.
- Install the TXV tube plate (7) and bolt (5).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10.5 N·m (93 lb in).
- Install a new O-ring (5) to the condenser (4).
- Install the A/C compressor hose fitting block (3) to the condenser.
- Install the A/C compressor hose retaining nut (2) to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10.5 N·m (93 lb in).
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A
.
