Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the propeller shaft from the vehicle. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  3. Remove the transmission crossmember support. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement .
  4. Suitably support the transmission.
  5. Lower the transmission slightly to gain access to the reverse lockout solenoid.

  7. Remove the reverse lockout solenoid electrical connector (2).
  8. Place a drain pan under the transmission in case any fluid drips out.
  9. Remove the reverse lockout solenoid retaining bolt.
  10. Remove the reverse lockout solenoid.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the reverse lockout solenoid.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the reverse lockout assembly bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the reverse lockout assembly bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Remove the drain pan.

  7. Connect the reverse lockout solenoid electrical connector (2).
  8. Install the transmission crossmember support. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement .
  9. Install the propeller shaft from the vehicle. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  10. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level Inspection .
  11. Lower the vehicle.
