For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the backup lamp switch.
  3. Clean any dirt from around the backup lamp switch.
  4. Remove the lamp switch from the transmission.

  5. Object Number: 2327  Size: SH
  6. Check that the transmission fluid level is even with the bottom of the fill backup lamp switch hole.
  7. Add DEXRON®-III transmission fluid, if necessary.
  8. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  9. Install the transmission backup lamp switch in the transmission.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the switch to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  11. Connect the backup lamp switch electrical connector to the backup lamp switch.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
