Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2009 🢒 G8 🢒 Transmission 🢒 Automatic Transmission - 5L40-E/5L50-E 🢒 Output Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the transmission fluid pan and filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 1956884 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the output speed sensor (2).

    3. Object Number: 1956886 Size: SH
  3. Remove the output speed sensor retaining bolt (3).
  4. Remove the output speed sensor (2).
  5. Remove the output speed sensor spacer (1).
  6. Inspect the output speed sensor (2) for the following conditions:
    7. • Damaged or missing magnet
    • Damaged housing
    • Bent or missing electrical terminals

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1956886 Size: SH
  1. Install the output speed sensor spacer (1).
  2. Install the output speed sensor (2).

    3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the output speed sensor retaining bolt (3) and tighten to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

    4. Object Number: 1956884 Size: SH
  4. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the output speed sensor (2).
  5. Install the transmission fluid pan and filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement.
