Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
- Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement.
- Disconnect the theft deterrent module (TDM) electrical connector (4).
- Detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM (1).
- Remove the TDM to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).
- Remove the TDM (1) from the steering column assembly (2).
Warning: Refer to SIR Warning in the Preface section.
Note: Rotate the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket counter-clockwise to disengage the locking tangs and pull to detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM.
Installation Procedure
- Install the TDM (1) to the steering column assembly (2).
- Install the TDM to steering column assembly retaining screw (3) and tighten to 1 N·m (9 lb in).
- Detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM (1).
- Connect the theft deterrent module (TDM) electrical connector (4).
- Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement.
- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
- Program the TDM. Refer to Theft Deterrent Control Module Programming and Setup.
Note: Make sure the locating pin on the steering column assembly (2) is aligned with the TDM (1).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: Rotate the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket counter-clockwise to disengage the locking tangs and pull to detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM.
