Installation - Up to xx/xx

Special Tools

    • EN 46106 Engine Flywheel Holding Tool
    • J 41998-B Crankshaft Balancer Installer
    • J 45059 Angle Meter
        For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools.

  1. The EN 46106 tool  (1) must be installed.

    2. Object Number: 1961740 Size: SH

    Note: DO NOT lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.

  2. Apply lubricant to the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore.

    3. Object Number: 1961741 Size: SH

    Note: Use the J 41998-B installer  (1), nut, bearing and washer to install the crankshaft balancer (2).

    Note: Make sure at least 10 threads of the J 41998-B installer  (1) are engaged before pressing the crankshaft balancer (2) in place.

  3. Thread the J 41998-B installer  (1) in the crankshaft (3).
  4. Push the crankshaft balancer (2) into position by tightening the nut on the J 41998-B installer  (1) until the large washer bottoms out on the crankshaft (3) end.
  5. Remove the J 41998-B installer  (1).

  6. Install the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt (1).

    7. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Tighten the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt.
    8. • Tighten the bolt to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
    • Tighten the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt an additional 150 degrees using the J 45059 meter .

  8. Remove the EN 46106 tool  (1).

Installation After - xx/xx

  1. The EN 46106 tool  (1) must be installed.

    2. Object Number: 1961740 Size: SH

    Note: DO NOT lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.

  2. Apply lubricant to the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore.

    3. Object Number: 2038725 Size: SH

    Note: Make sure the key (1) located on the top of the crankshaft is correctly installed in the crankshaft. Failure to adhere to this may cause engine damage.

  3. Install the crankshaft balancer (2) on to the crankshaft (3).

    4. Object Number: 1958095 Size: SH
  4. Install the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt (1).
    5. • Tighten the bolt to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
    • Tighten the crankshaft balancer to crankshaft retaining bolt an additional 150 degrees using the J 45059 meter .

  5. Remove the EN 46106 tool  (1).
