Transmission Support Replacement Except 5L40 and 6L50

Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.

Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement.



3. Remove the transmission support to transmission mount retaining nuts.
4. Support the transmission with a suitable supporting stand.



5. Remove the transmission support to lower sub frame rail retaining bolts.
6. Remove the transmission support from the vehicle.

1. Install the transmission support to the vehicle.

Warning: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the transmission support to lower sub frame rail retaining bolts (1) and tighten to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).
3. Remove the suitable supporting stand from the transmission.
4. Remove the suitable supporting stand from the transmission.



5. Install the transmission support to transmission mount retaining nuts and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
6. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement.
7. Lower the vehicle.

Transmission Support Replacement 5L40 and 6L50

3. Remove the transmission support to transmission mount retaining nuts.
4. Support the transmission with a suitable supporting stand.



5. Remove the transmission support to lower sub frame rail retaining bolts.
6. Remove the transmission support from the vehicle.

1. Install the transmission support to the vehicle.

Warning: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the transmission support to lower sub frame rail retaining bolts (1) and tighten to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).
3. Remove the suitable supporting stand from the transmission.



4. Install the transmission support to transmission mount retaining nuts (1) and tighten to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).
5. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement.
6. Lower the vehicle.
