Trailing Arm Bracket Replacement Sedan/Coupe

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  3. Object Number: 1835178  Size: SH
  4. Remove the 4 trailing arm bracket to body bolts.
  5. Remove the rear parking brake cable routing bolt from the trailing arm.

  6. Object Number: 1835186  Size: SH
  7. Remove the 3 trailing arm to knuckle through bolts (1).
  8. Disconnect the park brake cable routing clip from the trailing arm bracket.
  9. Remove the trailing arm and bracket as an assembly from the vehicle.
  10. Place trailing arm and bracket as an assembly on a work bench.

  11. Object Number: 1835218  Size: SH
  12. Remove the trailing arm to bracket bolt and nut.
  13. Separate the trailing arm bracket from the trailing arm.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1835218  Size: SH
  1. Position the trailing arm to the bracket, install the bolt and nut.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the trailing arm to bracket through bolt and nut to 60 N·m (44 lb ft) plus 60 degrees.

  3. Position the trailing arm and bracket assembly to the vehicle.
  4. Connect the park brake cable routing clip to the trailing arm bracket.

  5. Object Number: 1835186  Size: SH
  6. Install the 3 trailing arm to knuckle bolts (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the 3 trailing arm to knuckle bolts to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).

  8. Install the rear parking brake cable routing bolt to the trailing arm.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the routing bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the trailing arm bracket to body bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket to body bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft) plus 30 degrees plus an additional 15 degrees.

  12. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  13. Lower the vehicle.

Trailing Arm Bracket Replacement Convertible

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the rear frame brace. Refer to Frame Brace Replacement.
  4. Remove the rear axle tie rod bracket. Refer to Rear Axle Tie Rod Bracket Brace Replacement.

  6. Remove the 2 trailing arm bracket to body bolts.
  7. Remove the rear parking brake cable routing bolt from the trailing arm.

  8. Object Number: 1835186  Size: SH
  9. Remove the 3 trailing arm to knuckle through bolts (1).
  10. Disconnect the park brake cable routing clip from the trailing arm bracket.
  11. Remove the trailing arm and bracket as an assembly from the vehicle.
  12. Place trailing arm and bracket as an assembly on a work bench.

  13. Object Number: 1835218  Size: SH
  14. Remove the trailing arm to bracket bolt and nut.
  15. Separate the trailing arm bracket from the trailing arm.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Position the trailing arm to the bracket, install the bolt and nut.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the trailing arm to bracket through bolt and nut to 60 N·m (44 lb ft) plus 60 degrees.

  3. Position the trailing arm and bracket assembly to the vehicle.
  4. Connect the park brake cable routing clip to the trailing arm bracket.

  6. Install the 3 trailing arm to knuckle bolts (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the 3 trailing arm to knuckle bolts to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).

  8. Install the rear parking brake cable routing bolt to the trailing arm.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the routing bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the 2 trailing arm bracket to body bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket to body bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft) plus 30 degrees plus an additional 15 degrees.

  12. Install the rear axle tie rod bracket. Refer to Rear Axle Tie Rod Bracket Brace Replacement.
  13. Install the rear frame brace. Refer to Frame Brace Replacement.
  14. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  15. Lower the vehicle.
