The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Vehicle may display a coast down whine noise that sounds as if it is coming from the transmission.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Upon test drive driver will need to duplicate the noise. If the noise is present only during light brake application, then noise is not coming from the transmission. This is considered normal for new brakes and will reduce or disappear with normal driving
and brake applications after approximately 100 miles.
If the noise persists, then further noise identifying diagnostics will need to be performed.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
