Tools Required

    ā€¢  J 42578 Steering Wheel Puller Legs

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1555254 Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .

    2. Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  3. Remove the inflator module . Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  4. Disconnect the steering wheel control electrical connector (1).
  5. Remove the steering wheel nut.
  6. Install J 42578 and J 1859-A to the steering wheel.

    7. Object Number: 255213 Size: SH
  7. Use J 42578 and J 1859-A in order to remove the steering wheel.
  8. Remove J 42578 and J 1859-A from the steering wheel.
  9. Remove the controls and the control harness from the steering wheel.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the controls and the control harness to the steering wheel.

    2. Object Number: 294367 Size: SH
  2. Route the steering column wiring through the steering wheel.
  3. Install the steering wheel.

    4. Object Number: 1555254 Size: SH
  4. Connect the steering wheel control electrical connector (1).

    5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the steering wheel nut.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 32 NĀ·m (24 lb ft).

  6. Install the inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  7. Install the upper steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
