The powertrain control module (PCM) modifies the transmission line pressure
through the pressure control (PC) solenoid valve, in order to control shift execution
time and shift consistency. The PCM monitors various inputs, and modifies the shift
execution and timing by applying a calculated duty cycle to the PC solenoid valve.
The PCM alters the shifting based on driving habits, transmission load, and internal
transmission condition.
When the PCM detects long shifts that cannot be shortened by shift adapts during
the same ignition cycle, then DTC P1811 sets. DTC P1811 is a type C DTC.
The shift time is greater than 0.65 second twice during the same trip.
Ask the customer about overloading the vehicle, exceeding the trailer towing
limit, or towing in Overdrive.
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

- Install a scan tool.
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Important: Before clearing the DTC, use the scan tool
in order to record the Failure Records. Using the Clear Info function erases the Failure
Records from the PCM.
- Record the DTC Failure Records.
- Clear the DTC.
- Use the scan tool snapshot mode in order to record the shift times.
- Drive the vehicle in D4 in order to obtain 1-2, 2-3, and
3-4 shift times.
- Using the scan tool observe the 1-2 shift time, 2-3 shift
time and the 3-4 shift time parameters.
- Record the shift times.

- Change the AT fluid and filter.
Refer to
Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Seal Replacement
.
- Inspect the transmission fluid for correct level.
- Add new fluid as necessary.
Important: The Reset Transmission Adapts function will
clear all adapt cells. This may affect transmission performance. The PCM will update
the adapt cell values as the vehicle is driven.
- Use the scan tool in order to perform the Reset Transmission Adapts function.
