Illumination Lamps

The dome fuse applies voltage at all times to the dome lamp. The dome lamp will light whenever you apply both power and ground. The dome lamp is grounded through the left front door jamb switch. When the dome lamp switch is in the DOOR position, and the door jamb switch is closed (the door is open), a ground path is completed for the dome lamp. The dome lamp remains lit until the door is closed.

You may also turn ON the dome lamp when the door is closed by placing the dome lamp switch in the ON position. When the switch is in this position, the ground path is completed through the dome lamp case ground (2-door) or through G202 (4-door).

You may bypass the dome lamp circuit altogether. Place the dome lamp switch in the OFF position. The dome lamp will not light when the door is open.

Voltage is applied at all times through the DOME fuse to the luggage compartment lamp (4-door LSi). The luggage compartment lamp switch closes whenever the deck lid opens. The lamp will light when power and ground are applied. The only way the luggage compartment lamp may be turned ON and OFF is by opening and closing the deck lid.

Cigar Lighter

When the ignition switch is in the ON/ACC position, the ACC fuse applies voltage to the cigar lighter. The cigar lighter is grounded through G202. The cigar lighter heating element will begin to heat when the following conditions occur:

    • Voltage is applied
    • The cigar lighter is pressed inward

When the heating element reaches a predetermined temperature value, the cigar lighter will pop out, interrupting the circuit.
