Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 221750 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector of the brake solenoid valve (1).

  2. Object Number: 240672 Size: SH
  3. Remove the solenoid attaching bolts (1).
  4. Important: Verify that the lip seal of the brake solenoid valve (3) is still attached to the brake solenoid valve (2) when removing the brake solenoid valve. If the seal is not attached, inspect the brake solenoid valve bore in the brake modulator.

Important: Do not attempt to disassemble the brake solenoid valve. The brake solenoid valve is serviceable only as an assembly.

  5. Remove the solenoid (2) from the hydraulic modulator (4).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 240672 Size: SH
  1. Use the following procedure in order to install the lip seal of the brake solenoid valve (3):
  2. 1.1. Lubricate the seal on the new brake solenoid valve (2) with clean brake fluid.
1.2. Before installing the brake solenoid valve (2) in the ABS brake modulator (4), verify that the lip seal of the brake solenoid valve (3) is correctly positioned.
  3. Position the brake solenoid valve (2) so the electrical connector of the brake solenoid valve will face the same direction as the brake solenoid valve that was removed.
  4. By hand, press down on the brake solenoid valve (2) until the brake solenoid valve flange seats on the ABS brake modulator (4).
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the Torx® head bolts (1).
  7. Tighten
Tighten the Torx® head bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
