  1. Disconnect the brake fluid level switch.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the BRAKE indicator illuminate?

Replace the fluid level switch. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Disconnect the DRL control module.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the BRAKE indicator illuminate?

Test for a short to ground in the brake indicator control circuit. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair/replace the instrument cluster printed circuit. Refer to Printed Instrument Cluster Circuit Replacement in Instrument Cluster, Gauges and Console.

Test for a short to ground in the parking brake signal circuit. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
