Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 34865 Control Arm Bushing Service Set

  1. Remove the control arm from the vehicle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 175917  Size: SH
  3. Use J 34865 and a press (1) to remove the rear bushing from the control arm (2).

  4. Object Number: 175906  Size: MH
  5. Remove the front control arm bracket nut and washers.
  6. Remove the bracket (10) from the control arm (6).

  7. Object Number: 175926  Size: SH
  8. Use a knife to cut the flange off of the front bushing.

  9. Object Number: 175927  Size: SH
  10. Use J 34865 and a press (1) to remove the front bushing (2) from the control arm (3).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 175927  Size: SH
  1. Apply soap and water on the circumference of each bushing (2) in order to make the installation easier.
  2. Important: Center the bushing (2) in the control arm (3).

  3. Use J 34865 and a press (1) to install the front bushing (2) to the control arm (3).

  4. Object Number: 175928  Size: SH
  5. Use J 34865 and a press to install the rear bushing (1) into the control arm (2).

  6. Object Number: 175929  Size: SH
  7. Position the rear bushing (1) correctly.

  8. Object Number: 175906  Size: MH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Use the washers and the nut to install the front control arm bracket (10) to the control arm (6).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the front control arm bracket nut to 125 N·m (92 lb ft)

  11. Install the control arm (6) to the vehicle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
