Power Lumbar Support System Components

The power seat system consists of the following components:

    • Driver seat lumbar adjuster switch
    • Passenger seat lumbar adjuster switch
    • Power seat cushion air control module
    • DEFOG/SEATS 30A circuit breaker

Driver and Passenger Seat Power Lumbar System Operation

Each seat incorporates a power inflate/deflate system which alters the shape of the seat using air bladders.

Both power seats operate utilizing the power seat cushion air control module and the pump assembly. The power seat cushion air control module and the pump assembly are mounted under the passenger seat. A seat jumper harness from the passenger seat connects the circuitry and the bladder tubing to the driver seat.

Battery positive voltage is supplied to both of the lumbar adjuster switches from the DEFOG/SEATS 30A circuit breaker. When a power lumbar adjuster switch is pressed to the inflate or deflate position, voltage is supplied through the switch to the inflate or deflate relay coil within the power seat cushion air control module. The inflate and deflate relay coils are grounded through the pressure switch within the power seat cushion air control module. When the pressure sensor detects a bladder full or empty condition the inflate or deflate relay coil ground circuit is opened. When the power seat cushion air control module inflate or deflate relay is energized battery positive voltage is supplied to the pump assembly motor. The lumbar control circuits are also used to control valves in the air lines from the lumbar pump to the driver and passenger seat lumbar and bolster bladders.
