Schematic Reference: Power Antenna Schematics

Did you review the Radio/Audio System Description and Operation and perform the necessary repairs?

Go to Radio/Audio System Description and Operation

1. Disconnect the radio power antenna harness connector.
2. Test the battery positive voltage circuit at the power antenna connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

12 V DC

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 6

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Turn ON the radio.
3. Measure the voltage from the radio on signal circuit input at the radio power antenna connector to a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

12 V DC

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Measure the resistance from the ground circuit at the radio power antenna harness connector to a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Does the resistance measure near the specified value?

0 ohms

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 8

1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
2. Turn ON the radio.
3. Measure the voltage from the antenna relay coil supply voltage circuit output voltage at the radio connector to a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

12 V DC

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 10

Repair the battery positive voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Repair the antenna relay coil supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair the ground circuit of the radio power antenna. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio power antenna.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the radio power antenna. Refer to Power Antenna Assembly Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
