Go to Radio/Audio System Description and Operation

1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
2. Turn ON the radio.
3. Set the clock and the preset stations on the radio.
4. Turn OFF the ignition.
5. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
6. Observe the clock and the preset stations.

Do the clock and the preset stations remain where they were set?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove and disconnect the radio
3. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the radio harness connector and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Inspect the battery positive voltage circuit for an open, high resistance, or a short to ground.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 2

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio. Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 6

Replace the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
