For 1990-2009 cars only
- Inspect all components for excessive wear and replace as necessary.
- Perform pinion depth measurement and adjustment. Refer to Pinion Depth Adjustment .
- Install the differential drive pinion gear, bearing races, and new pinion seal to the housing. Refer to Drive Pinion Assemble .
- Install the differential carrier to housing (7). Refer to Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement .
- Perform side bearing preload adjustment and measurement. Refer to Differential Carrier Bearing Preload Adjustment .
- Perform a backlash adjustment and measurement. Refer to Backlash Adjustment .
- Install the axle shafts (4). Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement .
- Install the rear axle housing cover and gasket. Refer to Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement .
- Refill the rear axle lubricant. Refer to Lubricant Level Check .
- Install the propeller shaft (2) to the vehicle. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
- Install the rear torque arm. Refer to Torque Arm Replacement in Rear Suspension.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Inspect for proper operation of the rear axle.
