Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Important: Mark the alignment of the flywheel and the torque converter in order
to retain a proper balance.
- Remove the torque converter cover. Refer to
Torque Converter Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the flywheel to torque converter bolts.
Installation Procedure
Important: All flywheel to torque converter bolts should be hand started before
tightening in order to ensure proper alignment, and in order to avoid cross-threading.
- Install the flywheel to torque converter bolts. Hand start the bolts.
Tighten
• | Tighten the torque converter bolts for the 3.8L to 63 N·m
(46 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the torque converter bolts for the 5.7L to 60 N·m
(44 lb ft). |
- Install the torque converter cover. Refer to
Torque Converter Cover Replacement
or
Coolant Heater Cord Replacement
.
- Lower the vehicle.
