Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 208301 Size: SH
  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Remove the brake transmission shift interlock solenoid. Refer to Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Solenoid Replacement .
  4. Remove the park neutral position switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement .
  5. Unsnap the range selector lever cable from the transmission control.

  6. Remove the retainer and the cable grommet from the transmission control base.

    7. Object Number: 165285 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the park lock cable end from the park lock lever pin.
  8. Remove the park lock cable from the transmission control base.

    9. Object Number: 553836 Size: SH
  9. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer from the electrical connector.
  10. Disconnect the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) electrical connector.
  11. Remove the SDM bracket bolts.
  12. Remove the SDM with bracket.

  13. Remove the transmission control bolts.
  14. Remove the transmission control.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 553831 Size: SH
  1. Install the transmission control.
  2. Install the transmission control bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the transmission control bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  3. Install the SDM with bracket.
  4. Install the SDM bracket bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the SDM bracket bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Connect the SDM electrical connector.
  6. Install the CPA retainer to the electrical connector.

  7. Install the park lock cable to the transmission control base.
  8. Snap the park lock cable end to the park lock lever pin.

  9. Install the cable grommet and retainer to the transmission control base.

    10. Object Number: 208301 Size: SH
  10. Install the transmission range select lever cable.
  11. Install the park neutral position switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement .
  12. Install the brake transmission shift interlock solenoid. Refer to Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Solenoid Replacement .
  13. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
