Filler Tube Replacement 3.8 L

1. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator.
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



3. Remove the nut attaching the fill tube to the transmission.
4. Place a drain pan under the transmission to catch any dripping fluid.
5. Loosen the fill tube from the transmission.
6. Lower the vehicle.



7. Remove the fill tube and seal from the transmission through the engine compartment.

1. Place the fill tube to the transmission through the engine compartment.
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
3. Install the seal and the fill tube to the transmission.



4. Install the nut attaching the fill tube to the transmission.

Tighten
Tighten the fill tube nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

5. Lower the vehicle.



6. Install the transmission fluid level indicator.
7. Check the transmission fluid level.

Filler Tube Replacement 5.7 L

1. Lift the fluid level indicator handle lock up.



2. Remove the fluid level indicator.
3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



4. Remove the bolt attaching the fill tube to the cylinder head.
5. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
6. Place a drain pan under the transmission.



7. Remove the fill tube and seal from the transmission.

1. Insert the seal into the automatic transmission case hole.
2. Install the fill tube to the transmission.
3. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

4. Install the transmission bolt attaching the fill tube to the cylinder head.

Tighten
Tighten the fill tube bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

5. Lower the vehicle.



6. Install the fluid level indicator.
7. Check the transmission fluid level.



8. Push the fluid level indicator handle lock down.
