Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 107772  Size: SH
  3. Remove the exhaust pipe hanger nut.

  4. Object Number: 21621  Size: SH
  5. Loosen the muffler clamp.
  6. Slide the exhaust pipe out of the exhaust muffler.
  7. Slide the exhaust muffler from the exhaust muffler bracket.
  8. Remove the exhaust muffler from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Important: In order to ensure proper tailpipe extension to the rear fascia alignment, when reinstalling exhaust mufflers be sure to follow specifications.

  1. Install the exhaust muffler to the vehicle.
  2. Slide the exhaust muffler onto the exhaust muffler bracket.
  3. Slide the exhaust pipe into the exhaust muffler.

  4. Object Number: 107772  Size: SH
  5. Tighten the muffler clamp.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the muffler clamp to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.


    Object Number: 21621  Size: SH
  7. Install the exhaust pipe hanger nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust muffler hanger nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
