The transmission oil cooler, if equipped, is located in the outlet tank on the right side of the radiator. The oil in the automatic transmission can get quite hot. Overheating reduces transmission performance and can damage the transmission. The transmission is connected by two lines to the oil cooler tube in the outlet tank of the radiator. The oil cooler tube, being immersed in the cooler coolant in the radiator, is cooled. This cools the transmission oil passing through. For information on servicing the transmission oil cooler, refer to Transmission Oil Cooler Replacement in this section. For service of the transmission oil cooler hose and pipes, refer to Automatic Transmission.
