Removal Procedure
- Support the vehicle. Raise the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle
Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
- Drain the coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the transmission. Refer to Automatic Transmission Replacement
in Automatic Transmission.
- Remove the coolant air bleed pipe bolts
and washers from the cylinder heads.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the upper generator bracket. Refer to Generator Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and vacuum hoses, as necessary,
in order to gain access to the bleed pipe.
- Remove the coolant air bleed pipe mounting nut at the coolant
air bleed pipe stud.
- Remove the clamp and the coolant hose at the air bleed pipe.
- Remove the coolant air bleed pipe from the intake manifold.
Installation Procedure
- Install the coolant air bleed pipe.
- Install the coolant hose and the clamp
at the air bleed pipe.
- Install the air bleed pipe mounting nut at the intake manifold.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting nut to 20 N·m(15 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the electrical connectors and vacuum hoses as necessary.
- Install the upper generator bracket. Refer to Generator Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Install the coolant air bleed pipe mounting bolts and washers
to the cylinder heads. In order to hold the coolant air bleed pipe when tightening
the bolts, use a backup wrench.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Support the vehicle. raise the vehicle. Refer to General Lifting
and Jacking in General Information.
- Reinstall the transmission. Refer to Transmission Installation
in Automatic Transmission.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Refill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
