Exhaust Manifold Replacement Left Side

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to SECTION 0A.
2. Remove the EGR valve adapter from the exhaust manifold.
3. Remove the oil level indicator. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
4. Remove the exhaust manifold heat sheild nuts.



5. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shields.
6. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle suitably. Refer to SECTION 0A.
7. Remove the exhaust catalytic converter pipe. Refer to SECTION 6F.
8. Remove the oxygen sensor electrical connector.
9. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
10. Lower the vehicle.



11. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and studs.
12. Remove the exhaust manifold.
13. Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.

1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket.
2. Install the exhaust manifold.
3. Install the exhaust manifold studs.

Tighten
Tighten the studs to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

4. Install the exhaust manifold bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

5. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle suitably. Refer to SECTION 0A.
6. Install the oxygen electrical connector.
7. Install the exhaust catalytic converter pipe. Refer to SECTION 6F.
8. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
9. Lower the vehicle.



10. Install the exhaust manifold heat shields.
11. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

12. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .



13. Install the EGR valve adapter to the exhaust manifold.
14. Install the EGR valve adapter bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

15. Inspect the EGR valve adapter tube for leaks. If leaks exist, replace the EGR valve adapter.
16. Connect the negative battery cable.

Exhaust Manifold Replacement Right Side

1. Remove the negative battery cable.



2. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shields.
4. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle suitably. Refer to SECTION 0A.
5. Remove the exhaust catalytic converter pipe. Refer to SECTION 6F.
6. Remove the oxygen sensor electrical connector.
7. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
8. Lower the vehicle.



9. Remove the exhaust manifold studs and bolts.
10. Remove the exhaust manifold.
11. Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.
12. Clean the exhaust manifold and cylinder head gasket surfaces.

1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket.
2. Install the exhaust manifold.
3. Install the exhaust manifold studs and bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the studs and bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

4. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle suitably. Refer to SECTION 0A.
5. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
6. Install the oxygen sensor electrical connector.
7. Install the exhaust catalytic converter pipe. Refer to SECTION 6F.
8. Lower the vehicle.



9. Install the exhaust manifold heat shields.
10. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

11. Connect the negative battery cable.
