POWER STEERING PUMP BRACKET REPLACEMENT

1987 FIREBIRD MODELS WITH 2.8L PFI ENGINE (VIN CODE W)

1987 Firebird models with 2.8L multi-port fuel injection engine, power steering and air conditioning may exhibit a loss of the serpentine accessory drive belt due to a broken power steering pump bracket and/or power steering pump brace.

To service this condition, the power steering pump bracket should be replaced; and, a new design four-point, power steering pump rear brace should be installed as a replacement for the production three-point design. All replacement hardware and the instructions for installing the power steering pump bracketry may be obtained by ordering Service Package, P/N 10099904, from GMSPO.
