Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  4. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  5. Remove the shift lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement .

  6. Remove the A/T shift lock actuator from the linear shift assembly.

    7. Object Number: 746041 Size: SH
  7. Remove the transmission shift cable from the linear shift assembly.

    8. Object Number: 324874 Size: SH
  8. Ensure the Ignition switch is in the off lock position
  9. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
  10. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push to remove the locking tab.

  11. Remove the flat head tapping screw from the linear shift assembly.
  12. Remove the linear shift assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 324916 Size: SH
  1. Install the linear shift assembly and the tapping screws.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  2. Connect the park lock cable assembly (1) to the lock module assembly.

    3. Object Number: 324906 Size: SH
  3. Install the A/T shift lock actuator.

    4. Object Number: 746041 Size: SH
  4. Install the shift cable to the linear shift assembly.
  5. Adjust the A/T shift lock. Refer to Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Actuator Replacement in Shift Lock Control.
  6. Install the shift lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement .
  7. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  8. Install the SIR coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in SIR.
  9. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  10. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
