Suction Hose Replacement LD8

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the suction hose nut from the accumulator.

  3. Object Number: 422256  Size: SH
  4. Remove the suction hose from the accumulator.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  6. Object Number: 1870058  Size: SH
  7. Remove the suction hose nut (2) from the compressor.
  8. Remove the suction hose (1) from the compressor.
  9. Remove and discard the sealing washers.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1870058  Size: SH
  1. Install new sealing washers to the suction hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the suction hose (1) to the compressor.
  4. Install the suction hose nut (2) to the compressor.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  6. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Install the suction hose to the accumulator.
  9. Install the suction hose nut to the accumulator.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  12. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
