Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step determines if the DDM recognizes the lockout switch input from the DDSA. The scan tool will normally display Idle for the Window Lockout Sw until the window lockout switch button is pressed. At that time the scan tool should momentarily display Active, and then return to Idle.

  2. This step determines if the indicator is operating properly. When the ignition key is first turned On, the indicator on the window lockout switch button should not be illuminated. The indicator should illuminate when the switch button is first pressed. The indicator should then go out if the switch button is pressed a second time.

Important: Make sure that the passenger window lockout option is selected as ON in the vehicle owner customization menu. If the window lockout selection is OFF, set it to ON and verify that the fault is still present.

DEFINITION: This test assumes that all DTCs have been diagnosed.

Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the Power Windows Inoperative - Lockout Function complaint is present.

Does the power windows lockout system operate as described in the Description and Operation?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the Window Lockout Sw parameter in the Driver Door Module, Data Display, Inputs list.
  4. Momentarily press the window lockout switch button.

Did the parameter change momentarily from Idle to Active and then return to Idle?

Did the indicator light on the window lockout switch button illuminate after you momentarily pressed the window lockout switch button?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door module (DDM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the DDM. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
