  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  4. Open the drivers door.

Does the chime sound?

With a scan tool, observe the Park Lamp parameter in the Dash Integration Module (DIM) Inputs data list.

Does the Park Lamp parameter display Off?

  1. Close the drivers door.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Driver Door Ajar Switch parameter in the Driver Door Module (DDM) Inputs data list.

Does the Driver Door Ajar Sw. parameter display Off?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the instrument panel integration module (IPM) connector C1 (with CJ2) or the HVAC control module (with C67).
  4. Connect a test lamp between the key in ignition signal circuit and battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the key in ignition signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .

Important: Program the replacement IPM.

Replace the IPM (CJ2) or the HVAC control module (C67). Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual or Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Body Control System.
