Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Ensure that the park brake is fully released.

  4. Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  5. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) and disconnect the intermediate park brake cable from the park brake cable connector (1).

  6. Object Number: 106224  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect right rear park brake cable (5) from the cable connector.
  8. Disconnect left rear park brake cable (2) from the rear equalizer (1).
  9. Remove both park brake cables from their brackets by depressing retaining tabs on the cable housings and pulling the cables out of the brackets.

  10. Object Number: 106213  Size: SH
  11. Remove the right and the left park brake cable guide bolts (3).

  12. Object Number: 420689  Size: SH
  13. Disconnect both park brake cables from the park brake levers.
  14. Remove right and left park brake cable from caliper support brackets by depressing conduit fitting retaining tabs.
  15. Remove the rear cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 106224  Size: SH
  1. Install both cables (2, 5) into their brackets (1, 3) by snapping them into place.
  2. Connect the left park brake cable (3) to the equalizer (1).
  3. Connect the right park brake cable (5) to the connector.

  4. Object Number: 420689  Size: SH
  5. Install right and left cables into the caliper support brackets by snapping into place.
  6. Install the rear park brake cables into the rear park brake cable guides.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the rear park brake cables guide bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the park brake cable guide bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Connect the park brake cables to the park brake levers.
  11. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  12. Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  13. Connect the intermediate cable (2) to the park brake cable connector (1).
  14. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
