Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 1998 🢒 Bonneville 🢒 Steering 🢒 Power Steering System 🢒 Power Steering Pump Disassemble
  1. Use the punch in the access hole in order to remove the retaining ring.
  2. Push gently on the drive shaft in order to remove the following internal components of the pump housing:
    3. • The end cover
    • The O-ring seal
    • The pressure plate spring
    • The pressure plate
  3. Remove the following components from the drive shaft subassembly:
    4. • The pump rotor
    • The thrust plate
    • The drive shaft
    • The shaft retaining ring.
    • The pump ring and the vane.
  4. Remove the O-ring from the pump housing.
  5. Remove the dowel pins.
  6. Remove the drive shaft seal.
  7. Remove the following components from the pressure plate:
    8. • The end cover
    • The pressure plate spring
    • The O-ring
  8. Remove the pump ring and the vanes from the dive shaft subassembly.
  9. Remove the shaft retaining ring from the drive shaft.
  10. Remove the pump rotor and the thrust plate from the drive shaft.
  11. Clean all of the parts in power steering fluid.
  12. Dry the parts.
  13. Adjust the following components:
    14. • The pressure plate
    • The pump ring
    • The rotor
    • The vanes
    • The thrust plate
    • The drive shaft
  14. Inspect and replace the components if the components have the following conditions:
    15. • Scoring
    • Pitting
    • Chatter marks
