FORWARD CLUTCH HOUSING TURBINE SHAFT REDESIGN

BEGINNING EARLY IN THE 1982 MODEL YEAR, THE THM 200C TRANSMISSION TURBINE SHAFT, WHICH IS WELDED TO THE FORWARD CLUTCH HOUSING ASSEMBLY, (FIGURE #3) WAS REDESIGNED TO ACCOMODATE A 245 MM DIAMETER CONVERTER ASSEMBLY. PREVIOUSLY, THE TURBINE SHAFT WAS DESIGNED TO ACCOMODATE, 254 MM & 298 MM CONVERTER ASSEMBLIES. (FIGURE 1 & 2) WHEN SERVICING ANY THM 200C TRANSMISSION, THAT NECESSITATES REPLACING THE FORWARD CLUTCH HOUSING ASSEMBLY, REFER TO THE FOLLOWING CHART FOR ORDERING PARTS: IDENTIFICATION 1ST. DESIGN NO "O" RING 2ND DESIGN "O" RING & SMALL JOURNAL ABOVE SPLINE 3RD DESIGN "O" RING BELOW SPLINE & NO. SMALL JOURNAL 1976 TO 1979 1ST. PARTS LISTING FOR PROPER MODEL APPLICATION. 1ST DESIGN FORWARD CLUTCH HOUSINGS CANNOT BE USED ON 2ND OR 3RD DESIGN FORWARD CLUTCH HOUSINGS APPLICATIONS. THE 3RD DESIGN FORWARD CLUTCH HOUSING TURBINE SHAFT MUST HAVE AN "O" RING (PART NO. 8636033) INSTALLED DIRECTLY BELOW THE SPLINE (FIGURE #3), ALONG WITH TWO TEFLON OIL SEAL RINGS LOCATED NEAR THE HOUSING END OF THE SHAFT. (FIGURE #3) (PART NO. 8628090). REFER TO THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR PROPER INSTALLATION OF THESE RINGS.
